Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a low-impact exercise method that focuses on strengthening core muscles while improving posture, flexibility, and balance. It emphasizes controlled movements and proper breathing.

What is the difference between mat and reformer Pilates at Embody?

Mat Pilates is performed on a mat on the floor and uses body weight for resistance and utilizes a variety of props to continue challenging your body through creative sequencing. Reformer Pilates uses the Reformer machine to provide resistance and support, allowing for more varied and challenging exercises.

Is prior experience needed to take a class?

Pilates is a versatile exercise method suitable for everyone. Whether you're just starting out or are a seasoned athlete, we can tailor the exercises to your specific needs and abilities. If you have any health concerns, please consult your doctor beforehand.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Avoid loose clothing that could get caught on the equipment. Grip socks are required for reformer classes and are available for purchase in the studio. Bare feet or grip socks are acceptable for mat classes.
